Dr. Hanks is a consulting engineer in the Kansas City and Denver District Offices.
Dr. Hanks provides consultation related to the design and construction of industrial, commercial, and residential structures; failure analysis; materials testing; and infrared thermography. Prior to joining ED&T in 1996, Dr. Hanks was a faculty member at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. In addition to teaching, he conducted academic research involving topics related to the alkali-silica reaction in concrete, utilization of municipal solid waste ash, strength characteristics of Type I and Type III portland cement, high-volume fly ash mixtures, dimensional stability of portland cement concrete, and drying shrinkage in concrete. Over the years, he has worked on a wide range of industrial and commercial projects including coal-fired power plants, submarine overhaul basins, and high-voltage electrical distribution structures and foundations.
Dr. Hanks is a licensed engineer in the following states: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Washington, Wisconsin and Wyoming.
